Here we go again!

Today, during Zack's home teaching visit, the man of the family they were visiting was describing a wasp hive he had found. It was about the size of a basketball - yikes!
The funny thing was that as he was telling the story, he said that when he was trying to remove the hive he "pulled an Amber".

So far this season, I have only freaked out once. I was hosting our block party and I had a whole bunch of papers in my hand. We had gathered around a large table and we were talking about our emergency prep stuff for our street. Anyway, I was sitting there talking when I was buzzed. In the mere blink of an eye, I had kicked off one shoe, threw my papers up and behind me, and had successfully embedded tiny pebbles into my now shoeless foot. Oddly enough, I don't even think that I screamed. After all, it was only a fly.

I think that the colder weather this spring has contributed greatly to the lack of bees. Wahoo! However, I also think that I have turned over a new leaf. I am trying so hard to not wig out every time I see one. When I was planting my corn, I had to turn over really large stepping stones. Each one had a wasp trying to build its hive under it. There were a few crazy sounds coming from our yard that day, but no actual running and flailing of arms.

Is this a good thing, though? I do have a reputation to live up to!

I am not too fond of buzzing things either, but have learned to identify before I freak out. I don't freak anymore over bees, just wasps & hornets.

If something buzzes right in your ear it's totally justified. But I have a question... just how many times have you been stung that brought on this level of fear?

Once.

Apparently, all of my freaking out has kept me safe.

This morning I was upstairs getting ready and I hear my Savannah screaming and then crying. I was trying to think what possible could of happened. She had just taken the dog outside? So I ran downstairs..come to find out it was all over a BEE!!!!! I was amazed that a little bee that was outside and she was now inside could get her so scared! My little tough Savannah was in tears and they were really frightened tears...I am still puzzled!

I am the same way but only with spiders. I'm terrified of them!

I hate the buzzings too, but Amber, you mostly are just NEVER allowed to quit blogging. I really really need the hysterical laughter that always results from reading your blog. The fact that I never knew you were one of the funniest people alive (I mean this in the absolute best way) until you started this blog means that I just never knew YOU. So glad we got that all cleared up! Good job on starting to overcome your fear! I am allergic to bees and have always been terrified of them, but now that we have Sydney I am really scared that I will get stung and not be able to take care of her, so I carry an epi-pen with me.
